Bobby’s story
Plumeria isn’t just a name. It’s a new beginning.
This is not somebody buying a load of wellness machines and opening a centre. It is the hard times, the change, and everything I learned along the way, brought together under one roof.

The hard side
Getting alcohol out of my life wasn’t easy
I gave up drinking, but getting there was a slog. I tried practically everything.
I went to AA meetings. I tried Allen Carr’s Easyway to Stop Drinking. I even had a disulfiram implant put under my skin, designed to make drinking cause a severe, unpleasant reaction.
I tried different approaches because I genuinely wanted alcohol gone, but nothing on its own gave me everything I needed. There were setbacks. There was a lot of changing how I thought.
What finally worked was taking what I had learned from all of it and building my own way of looking at alcohol. Then came the training, the food, the saunas and cold plunges, and taking sleep and recovery seriously.
The book in progress
Hate
the Poison
I’ve called my way of looking at alcohol and recovery Hate the Poison. I’m writing a book under that name, which I intend to publish.
It tells the full story: the drinking, trying to stop, the setbacks, the slog, changing my mindset and discovering wellness and fitness. It is where the passion behind Plumeria comes from.
It is my story, not medical advice. If you are worried about your drinking, talk to your GP, or see NHS alcohol support or Alcoholics Anonymous.

How the name came to me
The flower came first. The meaning came afterwards.
I was sitting by the pool in Dubai on holiday, thinking about my new wellness venture and what on earth I was going to call it. I hadn’t come up with the name Plumeria, and I knew nothing about the flower.
My daughter came over carrying a plumeria flower and handed it to me. I smelled it, and something about that moment made me think: what does this flower actually mean?
So I Googled it. The meanings associated with the plumeria include new beginnings, renewal, life and longevity.
I couldn’t believe it. I was trying to name a wellness and longevity business, at a point where I’d made massive changes in my own life, and my daughter had just walked over and put this particular flower into my hand.
I genuinely believe that name was God-given, given to me through my daughter at exactly the right moment.

Plumeria isn’t a name somebody came up with in a branding meeting. It came from a real moment between me and my daughter, thousands of miles from home. A flower. A new beginning. A name I believe was God-given.
And that’s where Plumeria Wellness began.

More than personal
Health changes what we pass on
My journey is personal, but its purpose is bigger than me. I want my children to see that positive change is possible.
And I want Plumeria Wellness to help families and individuals make looking after themselves part of normal life: beginners, busy parents, tradespeople and athletes alike.
I’ve actually experienced this
Tried first-hand, not chosen from a catalogue
I’ve travelled, researched and personally tried these experiences because I wanted to know what they actually feel like before bringing the idea home. These are my own photos and videos, not stock pictures.

Never finished learning
